Today my group were off to the wonderful Gap of Dunloe in the horse drawn jaunting cars. Here we have Maureen and Jill, all excited as they wait to begin their journey to the Gap.
the road to the Gap was carved through the Kerry mountains by a giant glacier in the ice age. The roadside lakes are all glacial lakes once again burrowed from the earth by the glacier.
Eventhough the sun was shining, the air was cool as they made their way to the top of the mpountains, and the Gap. They were all well prepared for their journey as you can se in this picture.
From the left; Maureen, Nicole, Stone, and Jill, getting all up close and friendly with her horse.
The road to the Gap is for the use of the local farmers living in these mountain and in the Black valley beyond and there are signs warning people not to drive through here, but there are idiots who ignore this and create unnecessary dangers for the jaunting cars and their passengers, obviously people who are not prepared to put their hands in their pockets and part with the Euros for this trip of a lifetime. They also miss the wonderful boat trip down through the lakes of Killarney for the second part of this journey. They do not know what they are missing. Once such idiot caused a major incident today which held up everybody else's journey when he drove his car over the side of the road. Something needs to be done to block these idiots before they get on the road here.
All geared up in their life jackets and on their way down the river into the lakes as they begin the second leg of this superb adventure back to Ross castle and Killarney.
Tonight the treat was the Celtic Steps show at the racecourse auditorium in Killarney.
Maureen and Nicole got together with a couple of the dancers, and Sean Murphy, after the show, which they really enjoyed. This was great end to what was real Irish day for all.
