Chauffeurdriven tour of Ring of Kerry with Dovechauffeurdrive - REPOST SEP 18 2016

Today was our day on the famous Ring of Kerry, a tour of the Iveragh Peninsula, beginning and ending in Killarney town. The day looked bad as we set out, but amazingly we were blessed with bright spots along the way, as you can see from my pictures. The above picture was taken as we approached the town of Killorglin, famous for its "Puck Fair" Festival annually. This was an ancient Pagan festival where the Puck, or the male goat, was captured on the mountains, and placed on a platform in the center of the town, and he was the King of the fair. That festival continues to be celebrated today every August, and draws huge crowds, who party for the duration of the festival.

The above picture was taken in Waterville at the head of the peninsula,and shows Phil and Barbara posing with Charlie Chaplin. This was Charlie's favourite holiday resort, and the statue was erected in his honor by the locals.

Cumikiska is an elevated area at the head of the peninsula, and Phil and Barbara posed together here again, with the beautiful rugged coastline in the background.

We made our way to the top of the mountains at Mol's Gap, where i took this photo.You can barely make out the mountains, and the Gap of Dunloe, in the mist, but that was the kind of day we had.

We did get a lucky break at the beautiful Ladies View, where we all posed together, with the lakes of Killarney, strung out in the valley below.
Another nice day together, despite the weather. I know that once again Phil and Barbara really enjoyed this journey, despite the weather. They are great company, and really do know how to enjoy themselves.

Tomorrow we make our way to another of the famous Kerry peninsulas, the Dingle peninsula.
