Cathy Homezyn and her husband Gerry arrived in Galway today, where i collected them on their arrival. Their visit to the West is mainly concerned with an effort to trace Cathy's ancestry in the Roscommon and Longford regions, where we will be tomorrow. After spending some time in Galway city, we headed for the town of Kinvara, where they will be staying for the next two nights.
Gerry and Cathy, pictured together on their arrival in Kinvara, with the ancient Dun Guaire castle in the background.
They were anxious to meet my wife Sue, as their friend Barbara Muir, had visited our home in the past, and they wanted to meet Sue personally. Here we have Gerry, pictured at the rear of our home, with our little pony Taffy.
Cathy and Gerry, seated in our kitchen, relaxing with a good old cup of Irish tea.
Today was a great start to what will be a brief visit this time, but i look forward to traveling with them, and hopefully, finding some concrete information on Cathy's family history.
