Chauffeurdriven tours of Ireland with dovechauffeurdrive and Dave Hogan

Yesterday was the begining of a new tour with my latest group of three new friends, Stan and Becky Poltack, and Fran Moran, all the way from Mass. USA. They had been referred to me by Marie and John Hennessy, who had toured with me in the past, along with more of their pals, Rosemary and Ted Brown and Barbara and Jim Walsh and also the Barkman's. That particular group had been wonderful touring companions, and and i just knew that my latest trio would be just as nice, and so it has been.They arrived to me yesterday on the bus from Dublin, and we proceeded to take a tour of the city, starting out at the beautiful Galway Cathedral.

I would like to extend my thanks to those friends of mine back in the USA who sent these new friends my way.

 Here we have Becky standing on one of the bridges over the Corrib river, beside the Cathedral. You can see some salmon fishermen, standing in the water below, fishing for salmon, as this is a great river for that type of fishing.

 Now we have Fran and Stan, on the same bridge. The rest of today was spent resting up a little, with a meal in the Pucan Bar in the city centre later.

 Today we made our way to the town of Knock, where the famous Knock Shrine is located. It was there that Our Lady appeared in a vision back in 1889, and it is recognised now as a great centre of healing. In this picture we have Becky and Fran, together inside the Apparition chapel at Knock. The statues in the background depict and replicate the vision with St Joseph, Our Lady, and John the Evangelist, and an altar, with the lamb, and a half circle of angels around a large cross.

 This Basilica was built for the visit of Pope John Paul to Knock back in 1978. The large Celtic cross was also erected to commemorate this great occasion. In the picture, we have, from the left, Becky, Stan, and Fran.

 After leaving Knock, we made our way to the town of Kinvara, where tonight my friends are staying. They will also be celebrating at a medieval banquet in the ancient Dun Guaire Castle on the outskirts of the lovely harbour town.
On reaching Kinvara, we paid a visit to my home, where they met my lovely wife Sue, and enjoyed some home made apple pie, and a cup of tea. In the picture above, i joined my new pals in this photo in our home.

 This has been a pleasure for me to be touring with such lovely people for the past two days, and i know that the rest of this tour will be equally enjoyable. Tomorrow we are off to the awesome Cliffs of Moher, and on to Killarney.
