We left Kinvara on Monday, and made our way to the awesome Cliffs of Moher. Once again the day was gorgeous, as you can see in the picture above, showing my pals at the cliffs.
We passed through the town of Lisdoonvarna, famous for its matchmaking. This of course is the art of finding a life partner. It was in this town that long ago the farmers, and indeed many others, would congregate in September, after the harvest, looking for a wife. The ladies would also make their way there to hopefully to find a husband. Many men travelled here from overseas, especially the USA, to find a good Irish wife. Many were successful, and large numbers of Irish girls ended up with a new life in far off places.
We came across these two young musicians on the roadside up on the mountains, overlooking Galway Bay. From the left we have, Jack, Sheryl, our musicians, Sean and Patrick, and then Maureen and Tom. Sean was excellent on the flute, and little Patrick played the Bodhran (pronounced Bow Rawn).
We got to Killarney and spent the remainder of this day touring the great Ross Castle, on the shores of lough Laune.
This was another exciting day, spent in the beautiful sunshine and we all had a lovely time.
